Meet the team

A very warm welcome to NPAA!

My experience of the performing arts industry spans the years 1975 – date. I have been student, competitor, performer, assistant teacher, teacher, business owner, promoter, syllabus writer, lecturer, adjudicator and mentor.

I hold many industry – based qualifications in Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre as well as an MSc in Dance Science and Education (Dist.) from the University of Edinburgh. For 25 years I co – owned a highly successful dance and drama business with my husband. Ours was the first CDMT Recognised School in the country. We employed 15 staff and ran 2 separate centres hosting on average 750 – 900 individual dance, drama and musical theatre students of all ages and levels weekly. During this time I have developed Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Musical Theatre syllabus, taught GCSE and A Level Dance in the public sector and mentored many young dancers/teachers for a career in the industry. My experience is broad yet well cemented. I understand completely what it is to be a ‘jobbing’ teacher. I can empathise with the highs and the lows of teachers in the field and I believe this long – standing experience enables me to support and nurture both existing teachers and those of the future. You will always be guaranteed a listening, supportive and understanding ear.
When I’m not working I love to spend time with my family and walking our dogs; Kipp a 3 legged Romanian Lurcher and Dolly a Black Labrador from Chorley!

Alison Marlow Chief Executive NPAA Ltd.

Ann Callaghan

‘I am honoured to be appointed as an Examiner with NPAA.  The NPAA offers opportunity for everyone of all ages and abilities the chance to perform and achieve.

As a teacher I feel very fortunate to be member of NPAA.  Watching my students learn, develop and progress within such a supportive and inclusive organisation I am sure that they will continue to grow in confidence ultimately benefiting them in whatever they choose to do.

In my spare time I still like to take dance classes and I like to read.

Claire Lloyd

When Claire is not busy in the dance world, you will find her in a hair and beauty salon for some much needed pampering  or walking her dog Alfie, with her husband and children with the odd coffee stop along the way!

Clare has known our NPAA founder for many years and is proud to say Alison has been a wonderful mentor who has always believed in her. Clare is excited to take on another amazing role in her dance career of being an examiner!

She is a bit of a workaholic, but it’s not a job when you love what you do!! In her spare time she loves to spend time with her loved ones; human and canine!

Kathy Evans

I am delighted to be joining the NPAA team and honoured to be appointed as an examiner and member of the Advisory Committee for the Ballroom branches.  I have been involved in the dance industry for over 40 years, having performed dance in the sequence and ballroom genre.  Over many years I have trained students of all ages from beginners through to British Champions in Ballroom, Latin and Sequence Dance styles.

I am looking forward meeting other NPAA professionals and their students across the country and help to promote and share my love of dance.  When I am not working, I love to spend time with my family, playing golf with my husband and son and especially spoiling my twin Granddaughters.
